Located in the 21st floor of a pre-war era condo building in Chelsea in New York, this Penthouse required a full gut renovation to meet the needs and desires of the client. Original wood floors and chiminey were kept and refurbished.
The design of the project offers an open floor plan for all living/dining areas with a wider visual conection into a more ample kitchen. Two of the bedrooms were turned into a much larger and better proportioned master bedroom with a walkthrough closet and a bigger bathroom with two showers. The guest bedroom, bathroom, and powder room were renovated. A new private studio space is accessed through the master bedroom divided by acid edged glass doors which add natural light into this space.
All spaces view into a private terrace which is an extension of the living area. As part of the renovation all millwork was custon designed and fabricated to maintain the desired visual aesthetic throughout. Some custom features include the oil rubbed bronze chiminey, lacquered cabinetry, statuary marble counters and breakfast bar, among others.
